The Greek-American soprano Catherine Psarakis hails from hometown Melbourne, FL, and performs worldwide with renowned orchestras and ensembles. While obtaining her Master of Music at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston MA, she appeared as Cunegonde in Bernstein's Candide under the musical direction of Christopher Allen. She also played as the Queen of the Night in Mozart's The Magic Flute with Chicago Summer Opera. Catherine’s passion for contemporary music led her to take on the title role of Rohanna in new composer Jacob Shulman's Opera Role Playing Game with the Boston New Music Society. Additionally, she coached with and performed songs by John Musto through the Songfest 2022 Program as a Professional Fellow in San Francisco, CA. Also in 2022, she sang the role of Zerbinetta with the Burbank Philharmonic Orchestra in California, and made her debut at Carnegie Hall.
Catherine made her oratorio debut as a soprano in Handel's Messiah with the Messiah Choral Society in Orlando, Florida, and has since pursued her passion for oratorio and concert music. Recently in the 2023/24 season, she captivated audiences as the Soprano soloist in Handel's Laudate Pueri Dominum as well as in Telemann’s Magnificat with the Bach Festival Vocal Artists in Winter Park, Florida. She also performed with the LA Winds and Orchestra Consortium in California, where she sang the soprano solo in Mahler's 4th Symphony. Abroad in Berlin, Germany, Catherine performed as the soprano soloist in Rossini’s Petite messe solennelle with Capella Kreuzberg.
Catherine is the winner of the "Grand Prize" in the Hennings Fischer Young Artist Competition (2021) in the opera category, first prize winner of the Toronto Mozart Vocal Competition (2022), and a finalist in the International Johannes Brahms Competition in Pörtschach am Wörthersee, Austria.
